Modern Men Unhinged: Cheating, Rage, and the Rise of the Incel (Part 2) Featuring therapist Jeff James

Why are so many men cheating? Why do some men seem angry at women? What is incel culture, and why is it growing?

These are real questions we’re hearing from real people, especially women navigating the hellscape that is modern dating in 2025. We tackled all of it in Part 2 of our episode with licensed therapist Jeff James, who works with men, couples, and individuals dealing with emotional disconnection, trauma, and relationship breakdowns.

Why Are Men Cheating More in 2025?

According to Jeff, cheating is often more about emotional validation than sex. A lot of men in relationships feel disconnected—from their partners, but also from themselves. They haven’t been taught how to communicate honestly, manage rejection, or handle shame. Instead of facing harsh truths, they escape. That escape often looks like infidelity.

What Is Incel Culture and Why Is It Spreading?

“Incel” stands for “involuntarily celibate,” but the culture has become something darker. Online forums and social media groups filled with angry, lonely men have created a space where misogyny, entitlement, and victimhood thrive.

Incel culture explained is a groupr of men that blame women for their lack of sex, dating success, or emotional connection. Jeff explained that this is often rooted in deep male loneliness, untreated depression, and lack of emotional resilience.

Are Men Okay? (Spoiler: Many Are Not)

One of the biggest takeaways from our talk: a lot of men are in emotional crisis. They don’t know how to be vulnerable. They’ve been taught that emotional expression is weakness. And now, they’re either hurting others—or silently suffering.

Answering common queries:

  • Why are so many men emotionally unavailable?

  • Is there a male mental health crisis?

  • How do I deal with emotionally immature men?

What Can Women Do?

We talked about this a lot on the pod. You can’t fix someone’s emotional health, but you can stop lowering your standards to match theirs. Set boundaries. Ask better questions. And stop tolerating bare minimum behaviour just because you’re tired of being alone.

Jeff encourages women to notice red flags early—cheating, emotional withdrawal, blaming women for their pasts—and to walk away sooner.

What Can Men Do?

Here’s a wild idea: therapy. Real therapy. Not YouTube videos about “alpha energy.” Go to someone like Jeff. Learn to sit with your emotions. Learn to apologize. Learn to be honest.
